Cyperus albus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Cyperus albus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Jan Svatopluk Presl pada tahun 1828.
