Cyperus amuricus merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Rusia Timur Jauh hingga China dan wilayah Asia Timur yang beriklim sedang. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan asian flatsedge. Nama ilmiah Cyperus amuricus diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Maximowicz pada tahun 1859.
