Cyperus canus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko hingga Kolombia. Nama ilmiah Cyperus canus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jan Svatopluk Presl pada tahun 1828.
