Cyperus cephalanthus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan buttonbush flatsedge. Nama ilmiah Cyperus cephalanthus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Torrey pada tahun 1836.
