Cyperus dentatus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada tenggara hingga Amerika Serikat timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan toothed flatsedge. Nama ilmiah Cyperus dentatus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis John Torrey pada tahun 1823.
