Cyperus phaeolepis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Madagaskar. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan madagascar flatsedge.
