Cyperus proteus adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika. Nama ilmiah Cyperus proteus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Friedrich Welwitsch pada tahun 2014.
