Cyperus pulcherrimus merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di kawasan tropis Asia. Nama ilmiah Cyperus pulcherrimus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Ludwig von Willdenow pada tahun 1837.
