Dactylis smithii merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Macaronesia. Nama ilmiah Dactylis smithii pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Heinrich Friedrich Link pada tahun 1828.
