Datura ferox merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Solanaceae (suku terong-terongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Texas hingga Meksiko. Nama ilmiah Datura ferox diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
