Delonix tomentosa merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah Madagaskar bagian barat(Ankara Plateau). Nama ilmiah Delonix tomentosa diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama René Viguier pada tahun 1968.
