Desmodium chiapense merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Meksiko tenggara. Nama ilmiah Desmodium chiapense diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Townshend Stith Brandegee pada tahun 1914.
