Dichondra occidentalis merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Convolvulaceae (suku kangkung-kangkungan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari California barat daya hingga Meksiko (Baja California). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan western ponysfoot. Nama ilmiah Dichondra occidentalis diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Homer Doliver House pada tahun 1906.
