Digitaria monodactyla merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Rep. Kongo hingga Tanzania dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Digitaria monodactyla pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1898.
