Digitaria phaeothrix merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil selatan hingga Argentina timur laut. Nama ilmiah Digitaria phaeothrix pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Bernhard von Trinius pada tahun 1928.
