Digitaria tenuis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari St. Thomas, Amerika Selatan bagian utara, hingga Brazil timur laut. Nama ilmiah Digitaria tenuis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck pada tahun 1934.
