Dinebra panicea merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan Asia tropis dan subtropis, Amerika. Nama ilmiah Dinebra panicea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Anders Johan Retzius pada tahun 2012.
