MATA GALLINA Dioscoreapolygonoides Humb. & Bonpl. ex Willd.
Dioscorea polygonoides adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan dari famili Dioscoreaceae yang memiliki kebiasaan membentuk umbi di bawah tanah (geofit) dan berpola tumbuh memanjat. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Meksiko selatan hingga kawasan tropis Amerika. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan mata gallina. Nama ilmiah Dioscorea polygonoides diperkenalkan oleh Alexander von Humboldt pada tahun 1806.
