Echinops hispidus merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari wilayah sepanjang Eritrea hingga Tanzania. Nama ilmiah Echinops hispidus pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Johann Baptist Georg Wolfgang Fresenius pada tahun 1839.
