Elegia juncea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Restionaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Provinsi Cape barat daya dan selatan. Nama ilmiah Elegia juncea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1771.
