Elymus hystrix merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang di wilayah Amerika Serikat bagian utara-tengah dan timur. Nama ilmiah Elymus hystrix diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
