Emilia javanica merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di wilayah kawasan Asia tropis dan subtropis. Nama ilmiah Emilia javanica diperkenalkan oleh Nicolaas Laurens Burman pada tahun 1908.
