Eragrostis aegyptiaca merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma gurun pasir atau sabana kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari kawasan tropis Afrika bagian utara dan barat hingga Sudan. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis aegyptiaca pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carl Ludwig von Willdenow pada tahun 1813.
