Eragrostis caespitosa merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Somalia hingga Mozambique. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis caespitosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Emilio Chiovenda pada tahun 1914.
