Eragrostis echinochloidea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Zimbabwe hingga Afrika Selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan african lovegrass. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis echinochloidea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Otto Stapf pada tahun 1900.
