Eragrostis hirsuta merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat bagian tengah dan tenggara hingga Meksiko. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan bigtop lovegrass. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis hirsuta pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis André Michaux pada tahun 1829.
