Eragrostis hispida merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Sudan Selatan hingga kawasan tropis Afrika bagian selatan. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis hispida pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Karl Moritz Schumann pada tahun 1895.
