Eragrostis spectabilis merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada selatan hingga Meksiko timur laut. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan purple lovegrass. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis spectabilis pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Frederick Traugott Pursh pada tahun 1840.
