Eragrostis virescens merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada barat, Meksiko tengah, Venezuela, hingga Amerika Selatan bagian selatan. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis virescens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Jan Svatopluk Presl pada tahun 1830.
