Eragrostis viscosa merupakan tumbuhan semusim atau menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan, Jazirah Arab selatan, wilayah tropis Asia. Nama ilmiah Eragrostis viscosa pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Anders Johan Retzius pada tahun 1830.
