Eranthemum purpurascens merupakan tumbuhan perdu kecil dari famili Acanthaceae (suku jeruju-jerujuan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah anak benua India. Nama ilmiah Eranthemum purpurascens pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Robert Wight pada tahun 1832.
