Eriochrysis brachypogon merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Poaceae (suku rumput-rumputan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan tropis Afrika dan Afrika Selatan. Nama ilmiah Eriochrysis brachypogon pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Otto Stapf pada tahun 1917.
