Erythrina caffra merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mozambique hingga Provinsi Cape. Nama ilmiah Erythrina caffra diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Peter Thunberg pada tahun 1800.
