Dadap merah adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan yang dikenal dengan nama ilmiah Erythrina crista-galli ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil hingga Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Erythrina crista-galli diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1767.
