Espeletia atropurpurea adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran) yang memiliki siklus reproduktif hanya sekali seumur hidupnya (monokarpip). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma pegunungan tropis di wilayah Venezuela (Mérida, Táchira). Nama ilmiah Espeletia atropurpurea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Albert Charles Smith pada tahun 1935.
