Eupatorium serotinum merupakan tumbuhan dari famili Asteraceae (suku aster-asteran). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat bagian tengah dan timur hingga Meksiko (Coahuila). Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan lateflowering thoroughwort. Nama ilmiah Eupatorium serotinum diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama André Michaux pada tahun 1803.
