Euphorbia arguta merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Mediterania timur hingga Sudan. Nama ilmiah Euphorbia arguta diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Joseph Banks pada tahun 1794.
