Euphorbia atropurpurea merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Kepulauan Kanaria (Tenerife). Nama ilmiah Euphorbia atropurpurea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Pierre Marie Auguste Broussonet pada tahun 1809.
