Euphorbia cassia merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Türkiye selatan, Siprus, Suriah. Nama ilmiah Euphorbia cassia diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Pierre Edmond Boissier pada tahun 1853.
