Euphorbia hirtella merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Brazil hingga Argentina (Corrientes). Nama ilmiah Euphorbia hirtella pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Pierre Edmond Boissier pada tahun 1860.
