Euphorbia ophthalmica adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan semusim dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Amerika Serikat bagian tenggara, Amerika tengah, Karibia, Bolivia, Brazil, hingga Argentina bagian utara. Nama ilmiah Euphorbia ophthalmica diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Christiaan Hendrik Persoon pada tahun 1806.
