Euphorbia polycnemoides merupakan tumbuhan semusim dari famili Euphorbiaceae (suku kastuba-kastubaan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis kering di kawasan kering Afrika, Jazirah Arab. Nama ilmiah Euphorbia polycnemoides pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Christian Ferdinand Friedrich Hochstetter pada tahun 1862.
