Euterpe oleracea adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Arecaceae (suku pinang-pinangan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Trinidad hingga kawasan tropis Amerika selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan assai palm. Nama ilmiah Euterpe oleracea diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carl Friedrich Philipp von Martius pada tahun 1824.
