Ferula assa-foetida adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Apiaceae (suku adas-adasan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis di wilayah Iran selatan. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan asafetida. Nama ilmiah Ferula assa-foetida diperkenalkan oleh seorang botanis bernama Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
