Fimbristylis nigrobrunnea merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim subtropis dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari India hingga China selatan. Nama ilmiah Fimbristylis nigrobrunnea pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis George Henry Kendrick Thwaites pada tahun 1864.
