Fraxinus excelsior adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan berbentuk pohon dari famili Oleaceae. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa hingga Iran. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan european ash. Nama ilmiah Fraxinus excelsior pertama kali dipublikasikan oleh botanis Carolus Linnaeus dalam Species Plantarum tahun 1753.
