Gahnia beecheyi merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Cyperaceae (suku teki-tekian). Spesies ini memiliki kebiasaan membentuk rimpang atau stolon. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Kepulauan Hawaii. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan forest sawsedge. Nama ilmiah Gahnia beecheyi diperkenalkan oleh Horace Mann Jr. pada tahun 1867.
