Galega officinalis adalah salah satu spesies tumbuhan menahun dari famili Fabaceae (suku polong-polongan). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Eropa tengah dan selatan hingga Pakistan barat. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan professor-weed. Nama ilmiah Galega officinalis diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
