Gardenia taitensis merupakan tumbuhan berbentuk perdu atau pohon dari famili Rubiaceae (suku kopi-kopian). Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim tropis basah di wilayah Pasifik barat daya. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan tahitian gardenia. Nama ilmiah Gardenia taitensis diperkenalkan oleh Augustin Pyramus de Candolle pada tahun 1830.
