Gaultheria procumbens merupakan tumbuhan menahun dari famili Ericaceae yang tumbuh dalam bentuk perdu kecil atau semak. Tumbuhan ini berasal dari bioma beriklim sedang dengan rentang sebaran mulai dari Kanada bagian utara-tengah dan timur hingga Amerika Serikat bagian utara-tengah dan timur. Dalam bahasa Inggris tumbuhan ini dikenal dengan sebutan eastern teaberry. Nama ilmiah Gaultheria procumbens diperkenalkan oleh Carolus Linnaeus pada tahun 1753.
